The Goal
The goal with The Guardian Pack was to create a portable, durable, and essential asset used by first responders in difficult and uncertain terrain that facilitated the rapid deployment of life-saving resources.
Extensive testing was conducted on various packs to assess the ease and functionality of extracting supplies. This involved experimenting with a diverse range of options to ensure optimal performance.
A rapid prototype was developed to evaluate ergonomics and layout efficiency. However, the initial size of the pack posed challenges, prompting a decision to scale down the final design for improved practicality.
Selecting appropriate materials and hardware was a critical aspect of completing the pack. It was imperative to ensure durability to withstand the demanding conditions of its intended environment.
Using highly abrasion-resistant materials and waterproof zippers allows for enhanced durability, protection of contents, and overall pack longevity.
Utilizing color-coded zipper pull systems enables rapid identification of the precise locations of essential medical supplies within the pack, crucial for swift access in time-sensitive situations.
A versatile insert that can be completely removed for efficient organization of supplies, doubling as a workstation when detached and empty, while the freed-up pack is ready for alternate uses like transporting children.
